Slate from Vermont or Penn State like the Grey and Green or Purple will be good for there table and they can find it locally in NYC or New Jersey State.  Shipping one piece across the country will break so try to find this slate locally.  They should try to stay away from the limestone for outside.  The Slate bashing will continue I suppose.
