Thinking 1x1 inch tiles on mesh. The pool, I'm completely open to ideas and not

Presently I have a need for 70 square feet of material. I know this is a small
order but I have many applications which are 20-200 square feet on a consistent
basis. Bathrooms, kitchens, back splashes, outdoor showers, outdoor walk ways,
walls and I am looking into pools/spas (small scale) at present. I am looking
for slate for my present application. 12x12 tiles that are 1/4 inch think
minimum, prefer 3/8 inch thick is ideal. I am looking for a rich brown slate with
no tonal variations like greens, olives, rusts or reds. Natural cleft, maybe
honed. Something that is as naturally brown (some beige/tan is acceptable) as
possible. Prefer higher brown tones (light) then darker. I have found some slate
locally where 1 out of very 6-7 tiles in an order would meet my requirements but
I am not allowed to hand pick 70 sq. feet of one color. Buying 4-8 times the
needed materials to get the quantity I need in one color seems wasteful and I'm
hoping to discover a medium which will allow me to "hand pick" exactly

the foundation next week). The house is in the Santa Fe style and we like
browns, taupes, golds and reds. The home is 3100 sq. ft. (interior) and has two
exterior porches with a connecting walkway. I am considering installing slate
throughout the house except for the bedrooms (carpeting instead). I would also
like to install a complementary (color wise) granite as a countertop in the
kitchen and bathrooms (X3). So far, several granite candidates that we are
considering are Dakota Mahogany and Baltic Brown. I would also like to use the
slate as a baseboard in the rooms that is installed in and on the shower walls.
I need help in:
- Identifying a slate that meets our color criteria and is a good maintenance
choice in a house with two small children and an active kitchen.
- When estimating the amount to order, how much over should one order. (I am an
owner/builder but I have hired a custom builder as a supervisor)
- Granite (or other countertop) recommendations (I have read many of your
responses on the website, including the lemon juice test). My main concerns here

USA: I am looking to fill out a container shipping from Mumbai, India in about
30 days. The container is currently only 50% utilized and I would like to add
approximately 600 square feet of 30mm granite slabs and 1800 square feet

We regularly receive goods from India and while they are high value they are not
high volume. Because the shipments are typically "urgent", the containers
nearly always depart with significant unused space. As there is a ready market
for Indian granite and slate in our local housing market, these materials are
ideal for maximizing our current container loads.
I really have my sights on granite slabs. Surprisingly enough, the slabs
are more easily marketed locally than the tiles. At the present time, I am
working to finalize our chemical order so that we can determine the room (weight
really) available in the container for the granite goods. In any case, I will
not just disappear but will bring closure to the inquiry before moving on. My

in London on a prestigious residential project and are looking at using a blue
slate in a health club area. We have identified the Charcoal Blue slate sample
as compatible with the design concept. My architectural practice is trying to
find a stone suitable for the lining of a swimming pool. We are hoping to find
something dark with a blue coloration. The stone we want to find will not be
negatively affected by the chemicals in the water. We wish to find a stone which
has some color and patterning variation in it, and to lay the stone
slabs/tiles in a random pattern. In our research we have found some wonderful UK
slate, but the trouble is is that the color ranges are green. Welsh slates which
we have found don't really seem to have much or any blue hue in them. Are there
any marbles which would suite the purpose?
In addition we would like to put limestone on the pool deck surround but are
worried that the chemicals in the water may deteriorate or stain the stone. What
should our considerations be? Would a sealer and/ or
scotch-guard treatment solve the problem? We would like to procure a
